Ludlow Castle Tearoom
Richard Davies

"From the outset, we identified Cotswold Tea as a key element in achieving what we wanted"
Ludlow Castle is one of the finest medieval castles in Britain, set in the heart of the Shropshire market town. It has recently opened a new tearoom, a key part of a £3million renovation project. The aim of this award-winning tearoom is to provide traditional food and drink to the highest standard, using top quality ingredients. “From the outset, we identified Cotswold Tea as a key element in achieving what we wanted”, says part-owner Richard Davies. “Testimony to the success of our partnership with Cotswold is the fact that we have been granted membership of the prestigious Tea Guild.”
Membership of the Tea Guild is strictly by invitation only and subject to an incognito tea inspector visit to assess each establishment and the quality of its tea. To see Ludlow Castle's entry in the directory, visit www.tea.co.uk/guildmembers.php
Ludlow Castle tearoom serves a comprehensive selection of loose-leaf teas, all supplied exclusively by Cotswold Tea. Apart from in its herbal teas, tea bags are banned, as is 'bog-standard tea'. “One of the key reasons people visit the tea room is the quality and range of teas that we serve”, comments Richard Davies. “We have also built up healthy additional sales of packets of tea, all supplied by Cotswold.”
“Cotswold Tea's service is excellent, from easy ordering and reliable deliveries, to training support and new product development. Kay Healey from Cotswold visits us to provide valuable training for our staff and useful information that we can pass on to customers. Recently we have been receiving requests for decaffeinated tea and Cotswold Tea is in the process of sourcing suitable products for us. The direct relationship Cotswold Tea has with its tea planters allows it to provide this rounded service.”
Keepers Cottage luxury self-catering accommodation
Linda Sinclair

“We know we can rely on Cotswold Tea to provide the range and quality we require”
Linda Sinclair grew up in India where her father was a tea planter; she even went to school in Darjeeling itself. As a result, good tea was an integral part of family life.
At the age of 12, Linda left India and settled in the UK and almost gave up drinking tea, as the standard blended teas available never came close to the tea of her childhood. Help finally arrived about five years ago when Linda discovered Cotswold Tea and the opportunity to buy single estate tea. “At last I had found tea worth drinking again, it took me right back to Darjeeling”.
Recently, Linda has opened Keepers Cottage, a luxury self-catering cottage exclusively for couples in the Scottish Highlands near Aberfeldy.
“All guests are given a breakfast hamper and included in this is a tin of Cotswold Tea. Currently we are offering Irish Breakfast tea and a choice of herbal teas. I am on a mission to introduce our customers to the joys of good quality tea. As this is five star luxury accommodation, details such as the quality of the tea are really important. We know we can rely on Cotswold Tea to provide the range and quality we require, all easily ordered and delivered from their website.”
The Old Dairy Tearoom
Joanne Bradbury

“The quality of the tea from Cotswold Tea ties in with everything we offer here”
The Old Dairy Tearoom, located within the Harts Barn Craft Centre in Longhope, Forest of Dean, prides itself in serving carefully sourced, high quality produce, including the tea itself. The tearoom is owned and run by
Zoe and Joanne Bradbury, who have a passion for good quality food and drink.
The tearoom offers 16 different loose-leaf teas, all supplied by Cotswold Tea and provides information on these, with Cotswold’s help, to its customers. Offering such a wide choice has helped the tearoom create a distinctive identity and interest has grown steadily to the point where customers return specifically to sample the teas. A small but useful addition to their trade is selling the tea in packets to customers.
Joanne says “The quality of the tea from Cotswold Tea ties in with everything we offer here. We've moved right away from 'standard' tea and our business has benefited from offering something so distinctive”.
